It's Needed, It's Time,
It's About Bulldog Pride
Decades of wear and tear has resulted in building conditions that must be addressed. If not, conditions will only worsen and the cost of renovation and repair will dramatically increase. Responsible planning demands that we address these needs right now.
IT'S NEEDED
-
Everyone in our community should walk through our high school. It is worn out. It is out-of-date. While it has served many generations in our community, much of it simply can’t be cost-effectively renovated.
-
The safety and security of our children must be our top priority. While our schools are safe, upgrades are needed for safety and security to keep up with today’s best practices.

-
Classrooms are needed to accommodate today’s best practices in curriculum and instruction. That includes improved classroom climate control so teachers and students can perform better in classrooms.

-
Another need is accessibility. With multiple levels and lots of stairs, the high school poses challenges for those with disabilities.

-
Plus renovation and repair is needed — taking care of roofs, windows, doors and electrical and plumbing systems. When these systems get old and become inefficient, operating costs increase, taking money away from instructional priorities.

-
Failure to address needs today will only result in higher costs in the future. That’s something many of us have learned with our own homes.
IT'S TIME
-
The oldest portions of our high school were built in 1924 and 1967. With upkeep and repair, we’ve squeezed every ounce of use from those buildings. It is now time to replace those buildings and provide the type of high school environment our kids deserve and need.

-
Years ago, our community made a very smart decision — a smart investment — by placing our grade school, middle school and high school on the same campus. We can protect our community investment in that campus by improving our high school.

-
The plan that is on the ballot represents the hard work of many citizens and school staff, working hand-in-hand with district architects, to develop a responsible plan to address our facility needs.

-
Even with inflation and rising costs, voters can pass this proposal and keep the district’s total tax rate at about average for K-12 districts in Illinois.

-
This is a long term solution for our district that will last decades and improve our schools for many generations of students. It is a smart investment that will save dollars in the long run.
IT'S ABOUT BULLDOG PRIDE
-
Our schools are a tremendous source of pride for our community — what you could call Bulldog Pride. Of course, it is also about property values. But it runs much deeper than that. It’s about how we feel about community. It’s about how we feel when we know we’re doing the right thing for our kids. It’s about knowing we provide a rock solid environment for our families to learn, grow, and thrive.
-
When people visit our community and think about it as a place to live and raise a family, they’ll see our high school and realize how important family and education is to our community. They will see that Staunton values education and a strong community.
-
Good schools translate into strong property values. Passing this proposal is the most important thing we can do to protect our property values and the investment we’ve made in our homes — for many, their most important investment.
-
Two centuries ago, people stepped up to provide schools for their kids. And that’s happened in our community ever since. We take pride in our community by providing schools that our kids need.
REMEMBER to VOTE YES for Staunton CUSD 6 on November 5th
Failure to address needs today will only result in higher cost in the future.
